Paper and
pencil
Spirit level

(for photos)
Measure the Width
Width is measured horizontally, from one inner edge of the frame to the other. Take measurements at three different locations to ensure accuracy.
Measure left to right, between the frame uprights
🔝 At the Top
10 cm from the top edge
➡️ In the Middle
At mid-height of the opening
🔽 At the Bottom
10 cm from the bottom edge
Golden Rule
Keep the smallest of the three measurements. This ensures the window will fit perfectly.
Measure the Height
Height is measured vertically, from the inner upper edge to the inner lower edge of the frame. As with width, take three measurements.
Measure from top to bottom, between the frame rails
⬅️ On the Left
10 cm from the left edge
⬆️ In the Center
In the middle of the opening
➡️ On the Right
10 cm from the right edge
Watch the Sill
For French doors, include the sill in your measurement. Specify if you want a flush or raised threshold.
Check for Square
Measure both diagonals of the opening. If the difference between the two measurements is greater than 5mm, the opening is not square and we'll need to account for this.
Measure from corner to corner, both ways
Record Your Measurements
Diagonal 1: _____ mm | Diagonal 2: _____ mm | Difference: _____ mm
Take Photos
Photos help us better understand your installation and advise you. Take at minimum:
- A photo of the entire window (interior)
- A photo of the entire window (exterior)
- A close-up of the existing frame
- A photo of the current handle

❌ Common Mistakes to Avoid
Measuring Outside the Frame
Always measure inside the frame, not outside or the wall.
Rounding Measurements
Record exact measurements to the millimeter. Never round.
Forgetting Wall Thickness
Wall thickness is important for frame selection.
Using a Folding Rule
Folding rules are less accurate. Use a metal tape measure.
